PAA Stratocruiser over San Francisco

Pan American was the first airline to operate the B-377 Stratocruiser, referred to as the “Guppy.” The inaugural flight was on April 1, 1949 (the same year Lynn began flying) from San Francisco to Honolulu. Five cabin attendants worked on the Stratocruiser and it flew about 300 miles per hour at 25,000 feet. Flying time to Honolulu was 8.5 hours rather than 12 on other aircraft.
